The European Digital Payments Industry Alliance (EDPIA) took the opportunity to provide its members’ views to the European Commission consultation on the digital euro which closed in June 2022.
EDPIA believes that a digital euro could further strengthen digital payments on the EU’s own terms, especially if it is built in a way that leverages the existing payments ecosystem.
EDPIA believes that it is essential that the digital payments industry plays a central role in the development and distribution of the digital euro.
EDPIA will continue to engage in constructive discussions with policy makers and industry stakeholders, highlighting the role of the digital payments industry in the success of the digital euro.
